New USL side Real Monarchs presented the club president, coaching staff and players to a gathering of fans at Rio Tinto Stadium on Friday. After the presentations the club surprised the crowd with the signing of Utah native Garrett Losee to his first-ever professional contract.

Losee will play with the USL squad this season after trying out alongside more than a hundred other hopefuls earlier this week in Lehi, Utah. You can see a few highlights of the trial in the video below:

The 25 year old, who describes himself as a technical attacking midfielder, was born in Provo and grew up in Sandy. He played for BYU’s PDL team and then transferred to Cal State Fullerton, where he graduated after playing for the Titans in his final collegiate season.

A couple of the guys from Salt City FC caught up with Losee after the event to talk about signing his first contract, where he sees himself fitting in with the Monarchs, and how he envisions the club going forward in its inaugural season.

The video below includes highlights from the event, as well as a few comments from the Monarchs’ newest addition.
