LIVE STREAM: BYU takes on Real Monarchs in season finale

July 15th, 2015 | by Sean Walker

It’s no secret: BYU men’s soccer hasn’t had the season they would’ve hoped after qualifying for the Premier Development League playoffs in 2014.

The Cougars will finish the PDL season at 1-5-8 after Real Colorado Foxes forfeited their final match of the regular season. That forfeit, however, left one item of unattended business for BYU’s coaching staff: senior night.

To send off this season’s seniors, the Cougars will host Real Monarchs SLC in Provo on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. The Monarchs are in the middle of a two-week break from USL play, and agreed to play the friendly at the last minute — and they’ve brought in several trialists and RSL-Arizona Academy call-ups for the interleague contest.

Don’t expect any RSL first teamers at South Field tonight. But that’s not what this game is about: it’s about sending BYU’s seniors off with one more game, commemorating up to six years (including two-year missions) of dedication to the program. That includes players like leading scorer Jace Green, goalkeeper Jake Petersen and super sub/startup millionaire Garrett Gee, who will take his young family on a trip around the world shortly after this game.

So relax, sit back, and enjoy one more evening of soccer in Utah County. You’ve earned it.

If you can’t make it to Provo for the match, watch via the live stream on BYU Soccer’s YouTube channel, which is embedded above.
